A Proforma Invoice is a preliminary document provided by the seller before a formal transaction. It is used for quoting, applying for letters of credit, or import permits. It contains the product name, quantity, price, terms, and expiration date, but does not constitute a true receipt. A proforma invoice helps buyers complete internal approvals and financing, and also facilitates pre-regulatory procedures.
