Our glossary simplifies common industry terms in freight and logistics into clear, easy-to-understand explanations.
Ex Works (EXW) is the Incoterms term with the least seller responsibility. The seller prepares the goods at their factory or warehouse, and the buyer is responsible for loading, export customs clearance, international transportation, import customs clearance, and final delivery. EXW offers the buyer the greatest control, but also carries the highest risk and coordination costs. If the buyer lacks logistics resources, it is recommended to use FCA or other terms to balance responsibilities.
